PENGUINS AGAINST CANCER
Fleet Half-Marathon
Fleet, Hampshire
Sunday 20th March 2016
PAC competed in the Fleet Half-Marathon again, but in slightly bizarre circumstances. Paul Johnston has ably led the PAC runners this year but, even so, competitor numbers were slightly down. Rich Howard came through to run for PAC at the 11th hour, hot foot from the ski slopes, but Charlie Beardmore was laid low by a chest infection and had to withdraw.
On the morning of the race, Paul had still not received his race number and tracker. A flurry of activity resulted in him borrowing Charlie's race pack and just making the start time. Paul cruised through the race, finishing with a Personal Best time of 1 hour 34 mins but incredibly the record will show that it was Charlie, slashing over 30 mins off his previous year's timing. Following the race, Paul enjoyed the lavish hospitality of Nannette and Iain Pretsell with a great lunch and some fine liquid refreshment.
PAC is within spitting distance of reaching its target of £1,000 raised and for those still considering making a donation then its not too late as the link to the Virgin Money Giving site will remain open for the foreseeable future:
